Score Your Diet

This is a pretty fun site calculator. Not only do you get an overall score, but you also get a health score, a environmental score, and an animal welfare score. I did it quickly and got an overall score of 98 (I forgot to remember my other scores!). I want to try again soon and try to be more accurate.

My score was GOod, but I don't think I was particularly accurate at measuring how much stuff of which things we eat.

I do know we eat quite a bit of dairy which would skew our score. It also is a US site which doesn't account for things like NZ's stock farming practices are less intensive.

I also wonder how much eating "local" produce and seasonal produce would affect my score.

I'd build a calculator that gave health points for eating fats like butter, olive oil, coconut oil, animal fat. Negative points for eating refined flour and sugar. Bonus points for eating organ meats. And where were the welfare points for happy pigs, like there were for grass-fed beef and free-range poultry?

Sometimes I think that nutrition is as much a matter of 'faith' as anything else. Everyone has their own theories, and it's so hard to find the 'right' answer.
