Take Action: Methyl Iodide

Methyl Iodide is a chemical that has recently been approved by the EPA as a pesticide to replace Methyl Bromide which is being phased out because it is an ozone depleting chemical. Methyl Iodide is a known carcinogen and causes other problems in lab animals. Pesticide Action Network North America (PANNA) is asking for signatures on a petition to reverse the approval of Methyl Iodide. Please join PANNA, the United Farm Workers of America, the Organic Consumers Association, and me in this fight. Find the petition and more info HERE.

(Thanks to my friend Nona for alerting me to this effort. Nona has a great blog that she recently started. Find her at the Everyday Yogini)

Thanks for the heads up. I went over and signed the petition. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to trust these governing organizations to protect the people like they are designed to do? sigh.
