How Does Your Hood Rate?

Check out how walkable your neighborhood is at WalkScore. My neighborhood scored 42 out of 100. While it certainly isn't a great score, it is pretty good for the city I'm in. I think I'm in one of the most walkable (and bikeable) areas of town. The listing also left off a bunch of restaurants and small parks that we walk or bike to pretty frequently when the weather is nice.

What is your neighborhood's score? I am curious if anyone scores really high.

What a cool website! We scored an 89 which makes sense given that the town is tiny and everything is centrally located. It's really nice to live and work in an area with everything so close. The only thing that really lowered our score was not having a drugstore in town (the nearest one is 22 miles away), but everything else is within .5 of a mile.

Very fun website!!! Our walk score was 52/100 mostly b/c we have a library and gym nearby and also an little grocery store called Sammy's Organics - There are also a few parks within walking distance and a school. Not bad!!

My neighborhood scored a 78. I'm in probably one of the top 5 "pedestrian friendly" neighborhoods in Austin right near the hike & bike trail and Zilker Park/Barton Springs.

Neat site. My home neighborhood scored 66, my work neighborhood scored 94. Interestingly though, near my house were listed places I would never consider going for the services under which they were listed. On the other side of the coin, the main public library, two blocks from my office, was missing from the list. Despite these gaps, I think it's a good idea to have such a site and scoring.

I stand corrected on the public library issue - I just overlooked it on the list.

My neighborhood scored a 46. They left off a few parks, stores and restaurants that are within walking distance also.

Mine was 63. I actually thought it would score higher since we live across the street from a great park.

mine scored a 60... it definitely left off a ton of stuff, though, so i wonder what the "true" score would be??
